Home prices in Cornwall and area continue to be among the most affordable in Canada. Low asking prices and attractive interest rates provide purchasers with home deals not readily found in other parts of the country. Recent Activity
Home prices continue to rise as the economy remains strong, interest rates remain low, and there appears to be an abundance of buyers looking to either enter the housing market for the first time, or trade up.

Baby boomers in particular have demonstrated a trend towards moving upscale to either larger houses with more amenities, or houses on preferred lots. Waterfront lots have been in particularly high demand.

New Home Construction
Building permit values have been impressive over the past three years, particularly in the residential sector. In 2003, Cornwall experienced an increase of over 20% in the number of new family dwellings built over the same period last year.

Markell Construction continues to build the build their popular condominium complexes in the downtown core over looking Lamoureux Park. Activity has also been furious in the Noyar waterfront Subdvision on the old Courtauld's property in the east end, why two new subdivisons catering to seniors have also seen activity.
