Home buyers in Cornwall and region will be seeing new lawn signs staked throughout the area with the launch today of the "Hospital Home" program from RE/MAX Cornwall Realty. The program is expected to raise $100,000 towards the redevelopment of the Cornwall Community Hospital.
RE/MAX Cornwall Realty has 22 agents and 5 support staff and operates out of a heritage building on Second Street in Cornwall. RE/MAX Cornwall is the market leader in the region, and is involved in over 35% of all MLS Listings sold. The company is owned by local businessmen Jamie Cameron and Terry Landon.
All properties listed for sale with RE/MAX will become known as a "Hospital Home". The familiar red, white and blue RE/MAX "For Sale" lawn signs will be branded with the Hospital foundation logo and campaign slogan - Our Hospital, Our Future. The company plans to donate a portion of the commission cheque when each Hospital Home sells.
"We wanted to do more than just write a cheque to the Foundation", said Jamie Cameron. "This program will get everybody thinking about how they can help the hospital, from the people who come to open houses, to neighbours on the street, to the actual people involved with the sale."
"You cannot drive down a street in this area without seeing a RE/MAX lawn sign, so to have our logo on their signs represents a huge promotional shot in the arm for the campaign", said Tom Kaneb, who along with his wife Gail, co-chairs the Our Hospital, Our Future campaign. "I commend each and every RE/MAX agent for participating in this fantastic program and thank them for their generous support".
"Real estate agents are in a unique position to be one of the first people to greet a new family when they relocate to this area", said Terry Landon. "We know how vital a strong and robust health care system is to people when they choose a new community. This program will give us the opportunity to tell not only new families, but also new businesses, exactly what the plans for the new hospital are, and how it will affect their lives."
Our Hospital, Our Future is the Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation's fundraising campaign to raise the $10 million public share of the cost to redevelop the new Cornwall hospital. The campaign currently stands at the halfway mark of $5 million. When the gifts from the City of Cornwall and the United Counties of SD&G are included, the total exceeds $16 million to date, which is 70% of the $22.8 million required from the community for the hospital redevelopment. The community campaign is set to be launched on June 11th, at the annual Teddy Bear picnic.
